Our Funders

We receive funding from many sources in order to be able to deliver the services that we do.    These sources do change over time but we are extremely thankful for the generosity of the many organisations and individuals who have given us the money which has enabled us to do the work that we do.    It is not possible to list all of the funders past and present but some of the main contributers are -

The Brook Trust

Children in Need

Comic Relief

Dartford Borough Council

Dartford & Gravesham Community Safety Partnership

GDC Building Services

Gravesham Borough Council

Henry Smith Foundation

The Home Office

Kent County Council

Accommodation Projects

Our main sources of income for the refuge accommodation are from Dartford and Gravesham Local Authorities in the form of Housing Benefit and Kent County Council Supporting People.

The money from Housing Benefit goes towards the rental and upkeep of the properties as well as paying the cost of utilities and furnishings.   In addition we also receive a small weekly service charge from our service users towards items such as cleaning materials.

The Supporting People funding goes towards staffing costs to employ the project workers to support the women in refuge.  In addition we receive additional income for some members of staff through grant applications eg the Play Worker is funded through Children in Need.

Occasionally we receive one-off donations towards an activity eg a children’s outing to the beach or ‘play houses’ for the children.   These donations help enhance the services we can provide.

With regard to the hostel accommodation that we provide,  currently our only source of income is from Gravesham Borough Council in the form of Housing Benefit for the residents.    We have however been successful in obtaining some funding for repairs and refurbishment of the building which we greatly appreciate.

Community Projects

The healthy relationship programme 'Loves me ..Loves me Not' which we deliver in schools was originally funded via the Big Lottery from May 2012 to April 2015.   The funding enabled us to employ a Young Persons Outreach Worker  and since May 2015 this post has been funded by Comic Relief.

We have also been fortunate in receiving funding from The Brook Trust since 2013 for two projects - towards our core costs for our Maidstone office and towards the funding to employ a Volunteer Co-ordinator.

In 2013, the Henry Smith Foundation gave us three year part funding to employ an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor to work with high risk victims of domestic abuse.

In addition, we receive occasional funding from local authorities and other bodies to deliver community programmes and other support services.

Kent Domestic Abuse Consortium

As part of the Kent Domestic Abuse Consortium we have been successful in winning three contracts which allow us to provide community services such as the Independent Domestic Violence Advisors, the Positive Relationship Programme and the Children & Young Persons Programme.
